Fantastic skies, does it get a bit cold camping near the beach at night?

freezing. We were at powlett river.. Worst new years about 13 years back, our tents were blown over, and had to take refuge in a four wheel drive.

Wow I would love to take photos like these. How did you get the photo so clear? I have to use a high ISO to capture the stars and my photos turn out noisy and grainy.

By controlling your shutter time, and using the lowest F-Stop.

Google the 500 rule, to select the best shutter time for your particular lens.

I usually push the ISO high and then wind it down to find the 'right' balance of bright stars vs noise.

Brighten up your fore ground, dont use a flash it creates harsh shadows.
I used my phone LED light and waved it in semi circles over my head. Be careful with where you shine the light, think about your composition.
In this image I was careful not to expose the left bottom bushes.

Remember, you are not just photographing stars, you are taking a landscape photo, (with stars in it).

Peace

Thanks a lot.
To be honest, we(mates) looked at the bridge from many perspectives to get this one.
As soon as I saw this photo on the 3' screen I packed up my gear, "I got what we came for, I'm not going to get better" haha.

lol - I love it when that happens - I think we photographers always instinctively know when we've taken 'the' shot. :)
